This Republic Day weekend, ditch the honking horns and bustling crowds for a 3-day escape to two of Mumbai’s favorite getaways: the laid-back coastal haven of Alibaug and the serene hill station of Lonavala. This itinerary promises serene beaches, breathtaking vistas, and a welcome escape from the city’s frenetic pace.

Unveiling Alibaug’s Coastal Charm on Day 1

  • Morning: Start your day early and catch the first ferry from Gateway of India to Mandwa Jetty in Alibaug (1 hour, ₹150-200). Soak in the cool breeze and panoramic views of the Arabian Sea as you sail across the harbor.

  • Morning: Rise early and head to Khandala Point (4 km) for an unforgettable sunrise. Witness the mist rising from the valleys, painting the mountains in a magical light. Breathe in the fresh air and enjoy the serenity of the moment.
  • Afternoon: Visit the Rajmachi Point (8 km), a stunning viewpoint offering panoramic views of the valleys and forts below. If you’re feeling adventurous, take a trek down to Rajmachi Fort, an ancient Maratha fort perched on a mountaintop.
  • Evening: As your weekend draws to a close, make your way back to Mumbai. Take the train or hop on a comfortable bus back to the city, carrying memories of sun-kissed beaches, misty mountains, and a newfound sense of peace.
